HOAX: This website advertising recruitment at Naivas recruitment is fraudulent

This website purporting to advertise job opportunities at Naivas Supermarket is a HOAX.

The site claims Naivas Supermarket has 11 open positions with the salary ranging from Ksh17,000 to Ksh34,000.

The “Explore Opportunities” tab directs applicants to the alleged job openings, each detailing basic salary and medical allowances. It also includes an application section for each role.

Selecting a role, such as “Sales Attendant,” opens a form requesting personal details such as name, phone number, email, and education level.

When a user submits the form, they are directed to a confirmation page stating that the applicant’s qualifications match the role. It also shows remaining openings and encourages applicants to proceed.

The next step prompts applicants to pay a purportedly refundable KSh130 fee, with a claimed refund code provided. The site states that those who pay will be given priority and that refunds will be processed within two weeks of final hiring decisions.

But is the site authentic?

The post uses pressure tactics by displaying messages like, “Only two spots remaining” and “Secure your position. Takes less than two minutes”. This is a red flag.

Moreover, the site requires prospective applicants to pay an application fee, which is another red flag.

The suspicious site uses the URL https://naivasjobs.site/, while the official Naivas website is https://naivas.online/. A WHOIS search shows the fake site was registered on 7 September 2025, whereas the legitimate Naivas domain was registered on 20 October 2021.

Legitimate sites tend to be older than hoax sites, which also tend to have hidden details about the registrant, raising suspicion.

There is no evidence of the alleged recruitment on Naivas Supermarket’s official website or verified X (formerly Twitter) and Facebook pages, where job openings are typically posted.

On 12 September 2025, Naivas disowned the fraudulent website, warning the public that it does not recruit via unofficial platforms or request payment during its hiring process.

PesaCheck examined a website advertising recruitment at Naivas Supermarket and found it to be a HOAX.

PesaCheck also tests the accuracy of media reportage. To find out more about the project, visit pesacheck.org.
