HOAX: This Instagram post advertising Jambojet tickets sale is fraudulent

This post on Instagram from an account using Jambojet branding and claiming to offer a sale on flight tickets is a HOAX.

The post purports to offer Jambojet one-way tickets at a sale price of KSh2,200 to destinations including Nairobi, Mombasa, Kisumu, Diani, Malindi, Lamu and Eldoret. “September ticket sale. Book a ticket to Nairobi, Mombasa, Kisumu, Eldoret, Malindi, Diani & Lamu for only Ksh 2200. Book today, travel later,” reads the post.

The About page section shows that the account was created in August 2026, raising a red flag given that Jambojet has operated and maintained a social media presence since 2014.

Further, as of 14 September 2026, the account had only 129 followers and nine posts, which are additional indicators that the page may be suspicious.

A search on Instagram established that Jambojet’s authentic Instagram account is named Fly Jambojet and is verified.

Although the account under investigation is also verified, the authentic Jambojet page was created on 10 February 2014 and had over 81,000 followers and had made over 500 posts as of 14 September 2025.

The authentic account also links to Jambojet’s official website and Facebook page.

A review of the genuine page found that Jambojet had not shared any such offers for September 2026. The purported deals were also unavailable on the airline’s official booking website.

PesaCheck also found that Jambojet had flagged the purported sale and distanced itself from the page.

“Spot the fake before you book. Beware of fake pages and offers pretending to be Jambojet online. Before you engage, share any personal information or make a payment, take a moment to confirm you’re on the right page. Across all our social media platforms, our only official handle is @flyjambojet,” Jambojet posted.

PesaCheck examined a post on Instagram from a account using Jambojet branding and claiming to offer a sale on flight tickets and found it to be a HOAX.
